CAVORT promises to take you on an energetic Celtic musical journey of perilous passages, hooch-hiding, romantic indecisiveness, and beer. Add in some traditional Irish carols and holiday songs, and you’ve got the makings of a great afternoon. Come join us. http://www.cavortceltic.com/

Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Cuchulain Kelly
Cuchulain (pronounced Ka-HOO-lin) is a low-voiced songwriter with a wry wit. The NPR Music-featured folk singer released an album of long distance pandemic collaborations called FEAT on Nov 5, 2021 that was called “an as-yet-unpublished portion of the Great American Songbook.” Cuchulain’s deep baritone and clever lyrics have drawn comparisons to Randy Newman, Leonard Cohen, and Johnny Cash. From rooms as big as the Kennedy Center or as small as a friend’s living room, Cuchulain’s lyrics have brought laughs and tears to audiences across the US and beyond as he shared the stage with renowned folk acts including Ira Wolf, Jeffrey Lewis, Viv & Riley, Billy Keane, Upstate, and more. His new album “Minute To Win It” – a visual album of 20 songs in 20 minutes – is out now and taking the world by storm.

Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Bren Holmes
Bren Holmes was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland.
In the late ’80s, Holmes joined fellow Irish expats Keith Roberts and Paul O’Toole to form the Young Dubliners. Putting their own stamp on Irish music, they followed the Pogues‘ model of bringing a rock and punk feel to both traditional and original songs. They were also among the earliest of the American Celtic rock bands, preceding better-known artists like the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly by nearly a decade. During his multi-decade run playing bass with the Young Dubliners, Holmes quietly amassed a significant amount of his own material. Feeling that the time was right to make a break, he left the band in 2020 and began recording his first solo album. As a singer/songwriter, Holmes blends some of the Irish folk-rock style of his previous band with Americana influences. Everything You Never Wanted was released in September 2021.
Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Me and the Boys
We’re excited to welcome back Me & the Boys, featuring Roger Ferguson, Terry Enyeart, Rick Meade, and Mick Nicholson to Concerts in the Woods. Me & the Boys is a bluegrass super-group from the Pacific Northwest rocking the acoustic stages around Puget Sound. With lots of humorous between-song banter, this fun four-piece delivers the bluegrass goods from trad-grass to assorted genres e.g. classic rock and jazz – all with total ease – and on traditional acoustic instruments! Each member, with more than 30 yrs professional experience, is deserving of the “Me” status… Yet, as the name implies, nobody needs top billing. They just want to continue to make great music. Welcome back, Boys! https://www.facebook.com/Me-and-the-Boys-45131198563/
Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. The Go Janes
Sidelined by that nasty Covid bug just before we had them scheduled to play Concerts in the Woods last summer, we are excited to finally welcome The Go Janes back to Coyle for a June matinee show.
The Go Janes feature ukulele, guitar, and generous doses of delicious harmony vocals on songs from the long view of life. Their writing ranges from tender and sweet tributes to our shared humanity, to songs exploring how weird it is that magicians used to (pretend to) saw women in half for entertainment. From monkey-infested golf courses in India, and what that teaches us about how to greet life’s challenges, to letting go of our independent children, and losing those we love in more lasting ways. Along the way they pay homage to their ancestors and to their own and others’ most idiosyncratic selves. And there are knife-throwers, and howling dogs, and how the pandemic made them fight with each other and themselves. Folk life for sure. Going to be a fun afternoon with this trio! https://gojanesmusic.com/

Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. – Ben Gage, www.bengagemusic.com
Ben Gage is a songwriter from Akron, OH. Ben Gage grew up in the rust belt of Northeast Ohio, spread out in the countryside along the great Lake Erie. His roots run deep beside the hard working blue collars that Ohio has to boast. That tenacity, love of family, and respect for a long day can be seen in his music. He doesn’t shy away from life’s ups and downs and sews human experience within all his songs, artfully, without the need to bash you over the head with ideas. In Fall of 2021, Ben quit his job in the tech sector to pursue music full-time. Now he travels the US sharing stories and songs and always collecting more.
Folk and Blues music gives us a way to hand along a story, and it’s what fuels Ben’s songwriting and the reason he includes the listener. The best story sets aside the complexities and focuses on honesty. He infuses his shows with a great deal of humor, too. You will find yourself feeling as though you’ve heard his songs before even if it’s your first time.

Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Terry Robb
We hosted Terry Robb at Concerts in the Woods in 2023. At the end of his show, more than a few members of his audience made enthusiastic requests to have him back again as soon as we could book him! So here we are.
Terry Robb is hailed as a blues guitar virtuoso and one of the finest acoustic guitarists on the international scene. His signature fingerpicking style has earned him international acclaim from worldwide audiences, esteemed music critics and his distinguished peers. Incorporating elements from Delta blues, ragtime, country, swing and jazz, Robb has built a unique blues sound that has made him a legend in his prolific music career spanning four decades.
The multitude of awards Terry Robb has received speak to his seminal talent as a blues guitarist. Robb has been inducted into both the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame. His albums have soared to #1 on the Living Blues Radio Report and charted in the Billboard Blues Album Chart, IBBA Blues Album Chart (UK) and Roots Music Report Blues Chart.
Terry has performed as a solo artist at festivals, theaters and clubs across the United States, Canada and Europe, and has shared the stage with luminaries like B.B. King, Albert Lee, Joe Cocker, Bo Diddley, John Hiatt, David Crosby, George Thorogood, Leo Kottke, Johnny Winter and countless more all-stars. Come see him again at Concert in the Woods this May!
Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Curtis & Loretta
Curtis & Loretta are a folk singer-songwriter duo, guided by their love of good songs and inspired by the stories of people they have met in their over 40 years of touring. Weaving together soaring harmonies with a wild menagerie of instruments that includes guitars, harp, mandocello, banjo, ukulele, kazoo, harmonica, and percussion, the duo perform traditionally-inspired originals with humor and heart. Curtis’ down-home sense of humor and Loretta’s theater background engage the audience in an experience that runs the gamut of rolling with laughter to holding back tears, with plenty of side-trips in between. They rack up countless miles each year, crisscrossing the country to deliver their own unique brand of folk singer/songwriter music.
Featuring Texas-born troubadour Curtis Teague and Minnesota-raised theater graduate Loretta Simonet, the pair first met on the beach in Santa Cruz, California in the spring of 1977.
Seven minivans and countless miles later, Curtis & Loretta have been named “Best Acoustic Performers of the Twin Cities” (City Pages), landed on Folk Radio Chart’s “Top Albums of the Year” and performed with such folk luminaries as Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Vassar Clements, Claudia Schmidt and Holly Near.
Their new album Lift the World – their 10th recording – is already being called “a generous cornucopia of beautifully crafted songs that speak from the heart of the struggles and joys of life, performed with honesty, grace, and uncommon musicianship” (Chris Vallillo, Gin Ridge Music). Featuring songs that were written during the pandemic, the album celebrates what is really important in this life from the heartwarming to the heart breaking.
Curtis & Loretta married in Santiago, Mexico in 1987, and moved to Minneapolis, where they are still based. https://curtisandloretta.com/
Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Kim Richey
You have to love Kim Richey. We do. In the world of independent touring singer-songwriters that we honor, Kim may well be the poster child. She is a traveler, after all, musically, physically, emotionally. Not merely restless or rootless, it’s who she is. Willing to follow where the music leads, she’s landed in New York, Nashville, London… working with a who’s who of producers… attracting a coterie of top-shelf genre-definers… Jason Isbell, Trisha Yearwood, Chuck Prophet, Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket), Pat Sansone (Wilco)…for her critically-lauded projects… and also singing on records for Ryan Adams, Shawn Colvin, Isbell and Rodney Crowell and many others.
Part of what draws them to the dusky honey of her crystalline alto is the way she writes: to and from the soul, never flinching from the conflicts and crushing moments, yet always finding dignity and resilience. Her arc of the human heart is true. True enough that over the years as a songwriter, Kim has written No.1 hits for Radney Foster (“Nobody Wins”) and Trisha Yearwood (“Believe Me Baby”), the latter for which she was Grammy-nominated, as well as songs for Mary Chapin Carpenter, Gretchen Peters, Patty Loveless, Jamie Lawson, Brooks and Dunn, Jim Lauderdale and many more.
Over the past two decades Kim has released ten critically acclaimed albums, been listed in the ‘Top 10 Albums of 1999’ in Time Magazine for her album Glimmer, plus received 4-stars in Rolling Stone and named ‘Alt-Country Album of the Year’ in People Magazine for her album Rise. Her 2013 release Thorn In My Heart was named in year’s end best lists by No Depression, The Boston Globe and The Associated Press.
She is the real deal. A single genre has never defined her career. Her delivery can have a hint of folk, country, blues, roots, gospel… Yet, when you hear the first few notes of a Kim Richey song you know you’re in for a great ride; warm, expressive, melodic songs. Her music never disappoints. – Arthur Bowman

Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Ranger and the Re-Arrangers
Our perennial guest at Concerts in the Woods, Ranger and the Re-Arrangers never fail to dazzle an audience with their unique blend of swing standards, traditional European melodies, the music of Django Reinhardt, and Ranger’s unique originals.
Evoking the spirit of a Paris cafe and the raucous energy of a Romani campsite with their version of Hot Club Swing, the heart of their sound is Ranger Sciacca’s sweet violin playing… his sense of melody and daring improvisations” (World Rhythm).
Always a great time at Concerts in the Woods when Ranger and the Re-Arrangers “swing” through. Don’t miss them!
Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Jenner Fox & Jeremy Elliott with Stephanie Walbon
There is something that happens inside a good song. A tootsie roll can take you back to your elementary school playground; a list of baby names becomes a prayer; the voice of a toothless refrigerator man reminds you to say “I love you.” Jenner Fox & Jeremy Elliott tell the stories of people and places with unparalleled compassion and respect. Their artful tone, poetry, and fluency on the guitar do something only the brave ones do: let us in.The duo collaborated on various touring and studio projects for years before formally assembling for an experimental cargo bicycle tour in 2022. It clicked. They shared a sensibility for deep listening, space, humor, and 50-mile bike days.
In February 2024, the duo will be releasing their critically acclaimed debut LP, “The Moon That Moves The Sea.” Elliott hails from the guitar mecca of Macon Georgia, and brings a wealth of blues, rock, bluegrass, country, and West African elements into his unique style of virtuoso playing.
Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Jean Lenke Jazz-Folk Trio
Jean will be sharing favorite songs from the classic Jazz Standards catalogue as well as Folk & Fusion favorites by singer-songwriters Joni Mitchell, Jackson Brown, Lizz Wright, Ritchie Havens, Sandy Denny & more. It’s an eclectic mix reserved for her most very special concerts.
Come experience the magic!

Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Mary Fahl (formerly of October Project) https://maryfahl.com/
Mary Fahl. The only word we can say is wow because if you know, you KNOW. Concerts in the Woods could not find a more fabulous artist to bring our amazing 2023 series to a beautiful close.
With “a voice for the gods that can transport listeners to other realms” (Boston Globe), Mary Fahl is an expressive, emotional singer/songwriter who first achieved fame as lead singer and co-founder of the mid-1990s NYC- based chamber-pop group October Project, a band known for their lush harmonies, sweeping melodies and Fahl’s unique and powerful vocals. After two records on Epic, the band disbanded, but Fahl had more freedom to pursue her own muse, whether that meant writing and recording songs for movies (including the theme for the Civil War epic “Gods and Generals”), singing arias and medieval Spanish songs for Sony Classical or releasing a unique album-length take on “Dark Side of the Moon”.
Mary’s latest CD, “Can’t Get It Out of My Head”, is a truly great album of other artists’ music, songs that got Mary’s attention early in her life, helping her find her own musical path in the process.
Says Fahl of the new record: “On top of all the madness that was happening in the world, I was grappling with the loss of my mother and sister this past year and was feeling completely rootless. In an effort to find an anchor, a link to the past, a sense of home, I began to immerse myself in the comfort of music from my youth. These were such essential songs for me… like old friends… my musical home in many ways. I fell in love with each of them at the quintessential coming-of-age moment when music goes straight into your heart with no filter and these songs became part of my musical DNA… I learned to play guitar with several of them – especially the early Neil Young songs. Most of these covers come from the first albums I ever bought using one of those Columbia House ‘get 12 free albums for a $1’ mail order programs. I played these records endlessly… and the lyrics on many of these songs still have a powerful resonance for me.”
We couldn’t be more thrilled/honored/stoked to welcome Mary Fahl to Concerts in the Woods and the Olympic Peninsula just as the holiday season begins. Kind of feels like an early gift!
Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Luke Bulla
A long-time member of Lyle Lovett’s Large Band, Luke Bulla has been singing and playing music most of his life. Touring with and singing in his family band from age four, Luke took up the fiddle at seven.
Over the course of the next few years, he won the National Fiddle Contest (in Weiser, Idaho) six times in his respective age categories. His seventh win came in the Grand Champion division at age sixteen, making him the youngest to have earned the title at the time. Entering Nashville’s Grand Master Fiddle Championship at age ten, Luke distinguished himself by being the youngest person to have made the top ten.
In the spring of 1999, Luke moved to Nashville to establish himself as a full time musician. He spent his early years in Tennessee playing fiddle in Ricky Skaggs’ band, Kentucky Thunder, which earned him his first Grammy Award.
More recently Luke has performed and/or recorded with Brandi Carlile, Jim Lauderdale, Darrell Scott, Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Bryan Sutton, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Russ Barenberg Trio, Shawn Colvin, Tony Rice, Chris Thile, Peter Rowan, Patty Griffin, Glen Phillips, Rodney Crowell, and Earl Scruggs, to name a few.
In 2009, Luke released a solo EP featuring Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Aoife O’Donovan and more. That same year, Lyle Lovett asked Luke to join his Large Band, and he now tours full time in all of Lyle’s configurations.
In addition to violin, Luke plays guitar and mandolin, and sings and writes his own original songs.
Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. The Black Feathers
The Black Feathers make their welcome return to Concerts in the Woods on the heels of the release of “Where We Are”, their new album coming out Sept. 15th.
The duo, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012.
Americana, Folk, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Their music quickly draws the interest of listeners, but it is the stage chemistry that will keep them riveted.
Having already built up a loyal following in the UK, The Black Feathers have been spreading their wings across the US. They have performed at Philadelphia Folk Festival, AmericanaFest, Juan de Fuca Festival, The Kate Wolf Festival, and Mile of Music.
This will be the second time The Black Feathers play Concerts in the Woods. Don’t miss them this time!
Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Uncle Bonsai
Imagine what might happen if Tim Burton and Edward Gorey hijacked the Andrews Sisters en route to a Stephen Sondheim festival with The Beatles and Tom Lehrer in the sidecar; you’d get Seattle super-harmonizers Uncle Bonsai. With just three voices and an acoustic guitar, Uncle Bonsai presents an often dizzying vocal array of intricate harmony. Their songs, dark and hilarious at times, just as often delight with moments of great insight and beauty. The trio aligns itself with the under-achiever, the dejected, the outsider, the black sheep. Densely-packed lyrics fly by in a whirr at times, and take a skewed stance on topics such as first-world problems, the creation of the universe, the afterlife, and, of course, holidays with the family. Uncle Bonsai’s acoustic folk-pop songs are almost one-act plays or short stories, resisting strict pop, folk, or singer-songwriter categories. Their songs focus on the passing of time, the passing of genes, and the passing of pets – the truth of everything seemingly buried somewhere under the family tree.
Now in its forty-second year, the group has nine recordings, a reversible/hard cover book for parents (and their kids), and recently premiered an all-new show, “Seven Sins, Seven Wonders, Seven Dwarfs,” featuring a 25-song song cycle. The group plans to do shows that integrate these songs into their regular material AND will also present the entire cycle in a series of shows in Fall, 2023.
Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Michael Fracasso
One of Austin TX’s finest songwriters on one bill: Michael Fracasso.
Big Top, the new-old Lucky Hound Music release from veteran singer-songwriter Michael Fracasso, is the opposite of what’s commonly referred to as a “grower.” Expertly produced by his fellow Austinite Charlie Sexton, who is probably picking guitar alongside Bob Dylan as you read this, Fracasso’s sweetly affecting voice and masterful songcraft have never sounded so vibrant. To say it another way, Big Top features 10 hook-filled gems that simply demand repeat listens.
Michael has a big life. Not only a musician, he’s also a proud father with a thriving cooking career that meshes nicely with his music, sometimes including innovative combined cooking/singing performances. In 2013 he released a book, Artist in the Kitchen: A Brief Autobiography in Food, detailing this lifelong passion, and his late-night feasts, prepared after gigs for an exclusive coterie of musicians and pals, have entered Austin’s lore.
Join us for a great autumn afternoon of music in Coyle.
Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Pino Noir with very special guest Ranger Sciacca (of Ranger and the Re-Arrangers)
Pino Noir is a red-hot electric gypsy jazz quartet, led by Los Angeles-born guitarist Luca Pino. This fiery quartet brings unique and inspired arrangements of music by Django Reinhardt, with unbridled sound and style. These young musicians expertly brew a cutting combination of bebop and swing, all the while maintaining an authentic identity in the gypsy jazz style of the 30’s and 40’s.
Luca has been play Django-inspired music since his high school days, taking his audiences on a musical journey that’s as joyful as it is soulful. Pono Noir’s show will be the perfect way to kick off the Fall 2023 segment of shows at Concerts in the Woods!
Local gypsy swing artist Ranger Sciacca, a frequent performer at Concerts in the Woods with his band The Re-Arrangers, will join Pino Noir to lend his considerable talents to their not-to-be-missed show.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Sofia Talvik
Growing up in Sweden, Sofia Talvik’s music has always had a special tint of her Scandinavian heritage – making her a favorite among music lovers – but her 16 month, and 37 state long tour, through the USA (in an RV) has moved her music closer to the Americana tradition.
Her adventures on the road spurred a lot of emotions, both those of triumph and joy, but also those of self doubt and defeat – all of which found their way into the songs of her 2015 album ”Big Sky Country”. Living like a musical nomad, moving from place to place, slowly but steadily building her audience through her heartfelt and personal performances she got to experience the USA in a way few people do. The people she met opened their homes and hearts to her and some of them even made it into her songs. But the new album is not a diary from her tour, it’s more of a storybook of emotions, new and old in which everyone can find their own place.
Sofia’s debut album Blue Moon was released in 2005 to much critical acclaim followed by Street of Dreams in 2007 which features a duet with indie pop icon Bernard Butler from British band Suede, released on her then newly formed record label Makaki Music. Continuing a steady pace of releasing albums Sofia released her album Jonestown, named after the tragic 1978 event in Jonestown, Gyuana, 2008, and was the first Swedish female artist to play the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, that same year.
We’re very much looking forward to hosting Sofia at her Concerts in the Woods debut this September.

They just want to continue to make the great trad-grass and acoustic jazz/classic rock hybrid music that continues to bring them acclaim.

Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Claude Bourbon
Ready for a unique and talented take on a wide range of musical traditions? Concerts in the Woods is excited to welcome back Claude Bourbon, known throughout Europe and America for his amazing guitar performances that take blues, Spanish, and classical stylings into uncharted territories.
Claude’s inimitable style incorporates all five digits on each hand dancing independently but in unison, plucking, picking and strumming at such speed and precision that his fingers often seem to melt into a blur. Thousands of people in the UK, Europe and USA have enjoyed listening to this virtuoso and for the majority of his audience it is an experience that compels them to return again and again to hear and watch him play, as his fingers lightly dance over the strings of his guitar and create a unique sound that is ’Claude’.
Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Ranger and the Re-Arrangers
We’re excited to welcome Ranger and the Re-Arrangers back to Concerts in the Woods. For good reason, their 2022 show was one of the best-attended and warmly received of last year’s concert series.
Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” evoke the spirit of a Paris cafe and the raucous energy of a Romani campsite with their version of Hot Club Swing. “At the heart of their sound is Ranger’s sweet violin playing… his sense of melody and daring improvisations” (World Rhythm). The band’s repertoire includes swing standards, traditional European melodies, and the music of Django Reinhardt.
Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Two Crows For Comfort
Canadian folk-roots duo Two Crows for Comfort originally had no intentions of playing anything more than an open mic here and there, and went by a different name anytime they hit the stage. Fast forward a few years and Two Crows (Erin Corbin and Cory Sulyma) have unintentionally created something that seems to work. In December 2018 the duo released their debut full-length album, ‘17 Feet’, with back-to-back sold out shows at the Handsome Daughter in Winnipeg.
You can find their new album, ‘Show Me Light’ on all streaming platforms and Vinyl and CD copies are also available for purchase.
Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Kathryn Claire
With her violin and voice at the center of her music, Kathryn Claire weaves together stories and melodies rooted in her classical and traditional musical background while infusing each song and composition with an energy and electricity that is palpable. Her musicality and joy on stage is infectious. Honest and poetic writing, crystalline vocals, impassioned violin compositions, and an ability to move seamlessly across genres, are the hallmark of Kathryn Claire’s original and diverse sound.
Kathryn will be joined by Don Henson on piano and percussion and Sid Ditson on violin/viola. Both musicians have been recording, performing and touring with Kathryn Claire for many years and recorded on her full length album “Eastern Bound for Glory” which was released in February 2020. This trio has also toured in the Pacific Northwest for many years during the month of December sharing a seasonally themed show called “Winter Songs”. After a two year hiatus, the trio reunited in December 2022 for shows in the Pacific Northwest and released a corresponding EP titled “Winter Songs”.

Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. The Debutones
The Debutones have a new CD, conceived and born during the pandemic, and are marking their 11-year band anniversary. Come celebrate with them!
The Debutones love digging up little-known songs with compelling stories and beautiful melodies––some country, some folk, and some bluegrass. They put their special spin on these gems–with their vocal virtuosity and dynamic instrumental arrangements–and their love and command of the
music come through in every song.
By 2011, Debby Nagusky and Don Share had been singing duets for over two decades when three of the Pacific Northwest’s finest musicians joined them, and they became the Debutones. Their repertoire has evolved to take advantage of each band members’ musical ideas and talents, making every song sparkle and pop. Adding to Debby and Don’s vocals and guitar work are Greg Glassman, vocals, bass, and guitar; Julian Smedley, vocals, violin, and viola; and Bob Knetzger, Dobro and banjo.
Now, the band is as solid as ever and ready to hit the stage again!

Over the interceding years Aryeh taught himself to play a variety of instruments including electric violin, viola, cello, guitar, cittern, mandolin, lap dulcimer and hammered dulcimer, bowed and plucked psaltry, penny whistle, baroque flute, recorder, percussion and more recently the Swedish Nyckelharpa. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Jesse Terry
Connecticut-based Jesse Terry’s seventh album, When We Wander, is the first he wrote since becoming a parent. So it’s no surprise the family theme courses through many of its 12 songs. His music career has been a family project ever since he became a full-time touring artist a decade ago.
That was right around the time when Jesse met his wife Jess working on a cruise ship in the South Pacific. “As soon as we got back to the states, I proposed to her at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe in July 2010 and we packed up the car for the first tour right after that. We’ve been touring together full-time ever since.” Now with three-year-old Lily added to the clan, family is more important than ever to him, including the parental urge to love and protect. “If I were the moon, I’d light all of your back roads,” he sings in “If I Were The Moon”: “You wouldn’t need no headlights / I’d always be full.”
The life of a touring family inspired the album’s title track. “When we wander, when we wander / Don’t it feel like we’re finally found.” But in the face of the pandemic, he has found that “wandering is not just a literal thing. We’ve followed our hearts with so many decisions in 2020-2021, and have found that there are many ways to wander and be free and brave.”
The stage has been Jesse’s home for a decade. He plays around 150 shows a year, from Bonnaroo to the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the 30A Songwriters Festival to AmericanaFest. When the pandemic canceled concerts and delayed the album’s release, he pivoted to performing online and found a strong new connection to his fans, who had helped fund his albums all along. “My musical tribe has always been there for me,” he says with gratitude.

Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Me and the Boys Outdoor Concert on the Grass!
Q: What do you get when you take three of the top bluegrass guitar pickers in the entire region – add four singers, a five-string upright bass, two mandolins, a fiddle, a dobro, and a five string banjo?
A: The acoustic quartet called Me & the Boys!
“Me & the Boys” featuring Roger Ferguson, Terry Enyeart, Rick Meade, and Mick Nicholson is a group from the Pacific Northwest rocking the acoustic stages around Puget Sound. An amazing group that, both instrumentally and vocally, fall in the category of over-kill! This little four piece can deliver the bluegrass goods from trad-grass to assorted genres e.g. classic rock and jazz – all with total ease – and on traditional acoustic instruments! Each member, with more than 30 yrs professional experience, is deserving of the “Me” status… Yet, as the name implies, nobody needs top billing. They just want to continue to make great music. https://www.facebook.com/Me-and-the-Boys-45131198563/
Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Great American Trainwreck *Outdoor Concert on the Grass!
(* Please bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets, but note that if it is raining at showtime, we will move the concert inside.)
Full of outlaw country, bluegrass, and northwest music you oughta know, Great American Trainwreck combines melodic riffs, thoughtful lyrics and heavenly harmonies to define their approach to traditional genres. Hailing from Seattle, the band formed in 2016 when Chuck Dunklin (guitar & mandolin) and Stephanie Ward (vocals & acoustic guitar) met in Chuck’s basement apartment to play cover songs by Alison Krauss and Emmylou Harris. The songwriting began and they were soon joined by the talents of Dave Bush (drums), Dan Rogers (bass), Andy Basinger (keys), and Judd Wasserman (guitar & vocals). No longer confined to the basement, they are currently working on their 3rd studio album while touring extensively through the Pacific Northwest.

Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The Black Feathers
The ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations.
The Black Feathers, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, are two such talents. They first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012.
Americana, Folk, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands.

Don is a world-class fingerstyle guitarist with a “wow factor” that has let to multiple endorsement deals with major manufacturers and a collaboration with Greenfield guitars to produce a signature acoustic guitar- the “Don Alder G4” model.
Don currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His unique style of playing incorporates fingerpicking with simultaneous percussion on the soundboard to create a wall of sound. Saturday May 18, 2019 at 7:30 PM Combo Choro
Brazilian music with a fast and happy rhythm
Combo Choro is a Port Townsend band dedicated to playing choro* music which is the original music of Brazil. Acoustic music played with guitar mandolin, violin, flute and bass with occasional vocals, it is most often understood by Americans by the most famous song of the genre, Tico Tico. However choro music is much more than that, encompassing an enormous range of slow emotional pieces, fast tempos and an occasional waltz. While choro began in the 1800’s like jazz the music has evolved and been modernized.
Come hear the most beautiful music you’ve never heard before, the original music of Brazil, choro music.
*Choro (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʃoɾu], “cry” or “lament”), also popularly called chorinho (“little cry” or “little lament”), is an instrumental Brazilian popular music genre which originated in 19th century Rio de Janeiro. Despite its name, the music often has a fast and happy rhythm. It is characterized by virtuosity, improvisation and subtle modulations, and is full of syncopation and counterpoint. Choro is considered the first characteristically Brazilian genre of urban popular music.

He left school to pursue a full time career in music during the neo-swing movement of the mid-90s, playing with the Mighty Blue Kings and then the Four Charms. He has also worked with Chicago’s emerging improvisers such as Josh Berman, Jason Adasiewicz, and Design Flaw, and developed an interest in country blues and jug band music playing with the Wabash Jug Band. In 2004, Mr. Doyle moved to Austin to pursue his love of acoustic and roots music afresh. After a brief stint with the Asylum Street Spankers, he went on to freelance in Central Texas’ vibrant traditional jazz, swing, and western swing scene, playing with well-established acts such as Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel, and the Jim Cullum Jazz Band, as well being a part of many fine local bands such as Thrift Set Orchestra, Albanie & her Fellas, Stan Smith and the Jazz Pharaohs, Aunt Ruby’s Sweet Jazz Babies, East Side Dandies, White Ghost Shivers, Whit Smith’s Hot Jazz Caravan, The Giant Three and his own projects The Jonathan Doyle Quintet / Swingtet. His time in New Orleans introduced him to the hot jazz and traditional blues band, Tuba Skinny. And his connection to Chicago led to playing with the amazing Fat Babies as well as guitar maestro, Joel Paterson. More recently he has started performing with Naomi & Her Handsome Devils and Hal Smith’s Swing Central and the Casey MacGill Orchestra!
Clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, and arranger Jonathan Doyle lives in Port Townsend now. He still spends time in Chicago, Austin TX, and on the road.

Sunday March 17, 2019 at 3:00 PM Uncle Bonsai
Imagine what might happen if Tim Burton hijacked the Andrews Sisters en route to a Stephen Sondheim festival with The Beatles and Tom Lehrer in the sidecar; you’d get Seattle super-harmonizers Uncle Bonsai. With just three voices and an acoustic Uncle Bonsai guitar, Uncle Bonsai presents an often dizzying vocal array of intricate harmony.

The Honey Whiskey Trio
Los Angeles based Honey Whiskey Trio tells stories through song and stomp, highlighting the musical traditions of American Folk Music.
Alumni of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, Courtney, Ann Louise & Christina began singing together in each other’s living rooms as an emotional and musical release. In 2013, after seeing the impact of their music on the contemporary A cappella community, these sisters in song solidified their style as American Folk and picked up instruments to further enhance their vocally driven sound.
Today their passion for music education, community outreach, and singing unapologetically continues to drive them. They create, arrange, and explore music from the front porches, music halls, and hymn books of early America, sharing it with students, adults, and life-long music lovers across the United States.

Caribe Steel Band
Blending lively instrumental arrangements featuring Caribbean Steel Pans and crowd-pleasing vocal songs, Caribe will warm your soul and lift your spirits with the sounds of the Caribbean: reggae, calypso, soca, samba and even your favorite pop tunes – with an island twist!
With:
Angie Tabor – steel pans, vocals
John Sanders – electric bass guitar
Tor Brandes.- traditional drum kit band
www.caribesteelband.com
Steel pans (steel drums) were originally created on the Caribbean island of Trinidad in the 1930s. Players discovered that 55-gallon oil drums abandoned there during World War II provided an ideal metal to make into musical instruments. These used oil drums were skillfully hammered and carefully tuned to produce exact tones. Each Pan or Set of Pans can be hammered to create a full chromatic range of notes and can produce just about any type of music. Today’s pans are created out of specialized steel but are still hammered into shape to produce that distinctive “Caribbean” sound.

“Master of the Autoharp, Singer/Songwriter/Storyteller”
Born in Yorktown, Virginia, Bryan Bowers was raised in New Bohemia near Petersburg of the Civil War’s Battle Of The Crater fame. As a child, Bowers would tag along with the field workers and gandy dancers and learned to sing old call-and-answer songs. Bowers recalls, “The music I heard while working in the fields was mesmerizing. And, I’d see the gandy dancers coming down the tracks, setting the rails and getting their ties straight. You’ve heard that song `Whup Boys, Can’t you line ’em?, Chack a lack.’ Whup Boys, can’t you line ’em? was the call the leader would sing. Chack a lack was the bounce- back of the hammer after falling on the pin. I just thought that music was something that everyone did. It was years later that I realized what I’d been raised around.”
For over five decades, Bryan Bowers has been to the autoharp what Earl Scruggs was to the five-string banjo. He presents instrumental virtuosity combined with warmth, eloquence, expression and professionalism.

Saturday October 7, 2017 at 7:30 PM Beth Wood
Beth Wood is a modern-day troubadour and believer in the power of song. Her exceptional musicianship, crafty songwriting, and commanding stage presence have been winning over American audiences for eighteen years. Beth’s music is soulful, organic, intelligent, barefoot, high-energy communication of joy.
Beth Wood began her musical journey in Lubbock, a high plains Texas town with a uniquely rich musical heritage that includes Buddy Holly, Natalie and Lloyd Maines, Mac Davis, and Joe Ely to name a few. When she wasn’t dodging tornadoes and dust storms, Beth was studying classical piano, violin, harp, and voice and contemplating the greatness of her Dad’s record collection. With big dreams of becoming a musician, Beth left west Texas to study voice and piano at Brevard College in North Carolina. A detour from her classical studies led her to Austin, where she picked up a degree in literature and a guitar. Beth began writing her own songs and quickly discovered a feeling of musical freedom that she has been hooked on ever since. Eighteen years, thousands of shows, nine albums, three cars, and numerous awards later, Beth has never looked back.

Saturday May 20, 2017 at 7:30 PM Brenda Xu
Ambient/folk artist, Brenda Xu (pronounced “shoo”) has been a rising presence on the Seattle music scene since moving here from San Diego. Her ethereal voice has been enchanting audiences throughout the northwest ever since.
Overflow is Brenda Xu’s fourth album and builds on the unique sonic landscape that she created on her last album with more complex song structures and musical arrangements.
“The thread that runs through all the songs is an overflow of emotion that we feel from daily life — from the drudgery of simple routines to the more intense moments that challenge our willpower and sanity,” said Xu. “It gets to be too much sometimes and we need a release. But along with longing and desperation, there is also a strength and power which resonates through these intense emotions. I hope that the album takes the listener on an emotional journey, with many glimpses of hope along the way.”
Xu, whose last album was described as “beautiful music that can calm the most savage beast” (Frontloader), has been building a steady following since her arrival on the Seattle music scene a few years ago. The momentum she created with the release of her last album, “For the Winter,” in 2014 has led to two successful western U.S. tours and a feature in the MTV show “Awkward.” Compared to artists such as Cat Power, Daughter, and Aimee Mann, her sound has been described as “treading the delicate line between washed-out ambient tones and carefully crafted acoustic arrangements.”

Saturday April 15, 2017 at 7:30 PM Animals of Grace
Animals of Grace is an alt-folk duo based in Seattle led by innovative 12-string guitar player and classically trained vocalist Erika Lundahl. Together with percussionist Doug Indrick, Animals of Grace craft a musical experience that shifts from driving exhilaration to sublime and emotional. Formed in upstate New York in 2012, the duo was drawn to the tall trees and rugged wilderness of the Pacific Northwest in late 2013. Their debut album “Songs of Shattering,” released in 2015 on Rolling Crone Records was inspired by the poetry of Edna St. Millay and made it’s debut onto CMJ’s top 200 albums of college radio in March 2016.
Their most recent album ‘Brambles’ is the compilation of 7 songs of pilgrimage, climate change, and the wielding and waking of love for the Earth, each other, and all the hard lessons we haven’t learned yet. Inspired by traveling to the tar sands or Alberta, Canada in 2015 – the third largest reserve of crude oil in the world – and by events like the Mosier oil spill in Oregon, this beautiful compilation of songs is an introspective gaze into the heart and a search for the resiliency and love we need to come together.

The band has since opened for national touring acts, including Emi Sunshine and Melody Guy, and has participated in a number of festivals, including The Olalla Bluegrass Festival, Leavenworth Autumn Leaf Festival, and The University District Street Fair. The band released their debut album ‘Devil to Pay’ on August 19, 2016, and completed a west coast tour in October 2016. Woodland casts a net that’s not only wide but ambitious. Ryan Ayers is a solo guitarist mixing together classical technique with accessible songs forms and structures. His stage show is a well crafted blend of engaging music and interesting stories which have captivated audiences on both coasts.
Ryan began playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He attended Loyola Marymount University and graduated with degrees in classical guitar performance and recording arts. It was there that he began his studies with classical guitarist Martha Masters.
An active composer for over ten years, Ryan released his first record of ten original pieces for guitar entitled “ermita” in 2011. In 2012, he published the corresponding sheet music and tablature. These pieces employ classical guitar technique to explore the reaches of steel string and finger style guitar. A gifted melodist, Ryan also likes to experiment with gestures, textures, and rhythmic ideas in his compositions.
“Ryan Ayers has the rare combination of great technique, depth of musicianship, and a fantastic level of comfort on stage. His rapport with audiences belies his age, and leaves everyone with a warm and fuzzy feeling at the end of the evening.” ~ Martha Masters, Guitarist and President of the Guitar Foundation of America

After a few live performances, the band was picked up by New York-based Stunning Models On Display Records. With the label’s support, the band finished the recording of their debut album “Decades” in 2006 and celebrated its release later that year with extensive touring throughout North America. Once home, Casey began the near 2-year writing process for their follow-up album “Length of Arms”. The sophomore effort had its soft (digital-only) release in late 2009 on Vital Music Records. The band just released their latest album, “All Burn” in the summer of 2015 via Kscope Records (UK) to critical acclaim.

This French-born guitarist was classically trained, but then delved headlong into folk, blues, jazz and rock music. Now based in the UK, he has become a world-renowned player, highly acclaimed for his finger-picking style—plucking, picking and strumming at such speed that his fingers seem to appear just as a blur. Saturday April 2, 2016 at 7:30 The Honeyville Rascals
The Honeyville Rascals are a jazz and blues inspired roots duo with the driving rhythms of a tenor, concert and baritone ukuleles supporting the vocal melodies and harmonies of Sunga Rose and Michael Alexander. Sunga sings and plays a concert “paddlele” while Michael sings and plays a 6-string tenor “liliu”. Both take turns on Baritone uke as well, and Michael has been known to bring his banjo along. Soon after meeting in a workshop while endeavoring to improve their ukulele skills the Honeyville Rascals were putting together a list of the songs they always wanted to play. Their separate paths of musical interest led each of them to a love for early jazz and due to the “romantical” circumstances of their fortunate meeting, they tend to play many of their favorite love songs from that era. Their eclectic repertoire includes popular material culled from 10 decades of songwriting as well as many tunes of their own.

Michele D’Amour and the Love Dealers
high energy blues
Since its inception in 2012, Michele D’Amour and the Love Dealers has established itself on the Pacific Northwest festival and venue circuit. The band has two CDS to its credit: 2014’s Sin Comin’ On, with a mix of covers and originals, and 2015’s Ante Up, which was selected as an IBBA (Independent Blues Broadcaster’s Association) pick in May 2015.

Friday October 9, 2015 at 7:30 PM Sarah McQuaid
Sarah McQuaid’s voice has been likened to malt whiskey, melted chocolate and “honey poured into wine” (Minor 7th). Her new album Walking Into White (2015) is her most honest and adventurous work to date, with a depth and texture of soundscape that are reflected in her beautifully crafted live shows. A captivating performer, she seduces her audience with cheeky banter and stories from the road, as well as with stunning musicianship; in her hands, the guitar becomes much more than merely an accompanying instrument. Born in Spain, raised in Chicago and now living in rural England, Sarah refuses to be pigeonholed, segueing easily from one of her emotive originals into a 1930s Cuban jazz number, a 16th century lute piece or an unexpected contemporary cover. Like its predecessors, her fourth solo CD has drawn international critical acclaim: The Musician (UK) called it “A work that grows with each listen,” while Germany’s Folker hailed it as “Ein mutiges Album mit einem potenziellen Pophit” (A courageous album that includes a potential pop hit). “Sending out a trembling resonance, this is a collection of songs that feel their way into your being,” wrote FolkWords (UK), where it prevailed over stiff competition to be selected as Album of the Month.www.sarahmcquaid.com
